Miami Dolphins sign undrafted defensive back after rookie minicamp

After tryout during rookie camp, Dolphins sign former Boston College and Wisconsin defensive back, Jason Maitre.

The Miami Dolphins concluded their recent rookie minicamp late last week — a minicamp that included all seven of their 2024 NFL Draft picks, as well as many undrafted tryout players.

One of those players — Jason Maitre of the University of Wisconsin — has signed a deal to become a part of the Dolphins 90-man roster, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Maitre, a nickel corner who also has safety versatility, played six seasons of college football — five with Boston College and his sixth and final season as a starter for the Wisconsin Badgers.

During his college tenure, the 5’10” defensive back brought down four interceptions — including one which he returned for a touchdown.

Maitre was the seventh highest rated prospect from Massachusetts coming out of Everett High School where he played on both sides of the ball. During his senior season, he had nine touchdown receptions, three rushing scores, two punt return touchdowns and even took one kickoff to the house. He totaled four interceptions on defense during his final year in high school.

Maitre joins former Rutgers interior offensive lineman, Ireland Brown, as the only players (so far) who have been signed following Miami’s rookie minicamp.
