Cowboys News and Notes for June 12, 2024
The Cowboys are over a month away from their trip to Oxnard, CA to kick off training camp, but they have plenty of business to tend to first. On Tuesday, they brought their final 2024 draft pick into the fold, signing their second-round pick who looks to replace two veterans in the DE rotation while auditioning for a top role sooner rather than later. Meanwhile contract talks with Dak Prescott still haven’t progressed to a meaningful point, meaning that the College Football world may hold Dallas’ future starter. Fans should get acquainted.
A former Cowboys is disgruntled with the contract he signed with Dallas, the club is searching for help from the UFL and hopeful UDFAs, and the fanbase will in fact get a chance to watch all of the squad’s exhibition games this summer. All this and more on the latest News and Notes.

Dallas may have unknowns in their offensive line, but they should feel confident in the depth they’ve developed in recent years.
Reid Hanson looks at how while the Eagles new OC knows Dallas’ personnel on defense, the advantage is likely leaning towards the Cowboys side in knowing the ins and outs of Moore’s offense.
DALLAS COWBOYS
They are talented at all the right spots and consistently win (in the regular season, at least)
For as much criticism as the Dallas Cowboys get, they have won 12 games in three straight regular seasons and are loaded with talent at premium positions. They posted top-five offensive and defensive grades last season, joining San Francisco and Baltimore as the only teams to do so.
Dak Prescott finished third in passing grade. CeeDee Lamb finished fourth in receiving grade. Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence were dominant off the edge, per usual, and the team returns arguably the best pair of cornerbacks in the NFL in DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs. The Cowboys may lack depth, but they certainly don’t lack the high-end talent needed to win games.
The Cowboys inked Amari Cooper to a five-year deal in 2020, knowing they would likely part ways with him after two seasons. The trade to Cleveland was to save money and allow CeeDee Lamb to blossom into a No. 1 receiver, both of which happened. But now, Cooper’s deal is in the final season just as Lamb enters his fifth-year option campaign. After Lamb held out from Dallas’ minicamp last week, Cooper has stayed away as Cleveland started theirs on Tuesday.
