In border battle for the Chiefs, Kansas believes new stadium would attract a Super Bowl | Pro Football Talk

In a Kansas City Star article that describes the burgeoning border battle between Missouri and Kansas as a “confrontation” between the two states for the two teams, Kansas Senator Rob Olsen predicts that a new Chiefs stadium in Kansas “would host a Super Bowl within a few years.”

That’s the curveball that could have a major impact on the outcome of the effort to keep the Chiefs in the region. Improvements to Arrowhead Stadium wouldn’t bring the Super Bowl to town, unless the upgrades include a roof. A new stadium in Kansas would be a dome, which could lead to the usual cold-weather city quid pro quo — as the NFL has done in Minneapolis (twice), Indianapolis, and Detroit (twice).

Hollywood Brown’s work ethic shows exactly why he’s going to have a big year with the Chiefs in 2024 | AtoZ Sports

With the five-week break between mandatory minicamp and Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, players are left to their own devices. Many of them travel and wind up using that break to take some much-needed time off before the grueling season ahead, but that’s not the case for Brown. He posted a workout video on Tuesday, which shows him getting after it.

Opinion: The Chiefs’ Potential Move to Kansas is Heating Up, and You Probably Shouldn’t Care | Arrowhead Report

The Kansas City Chiefs could be moving from Kansas City, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas in the coming years. If you’re not local to the KC area(s), you may have had to re-read that sentence multiple times for it to even begin to make sense. If you’re a Kansas Citian, you may believe that the sky is falling or that it’s raining manna from heaven, depending on which side of the state line you prefer. Currently, I’m not sure if you should care at all.

Kansas is making a big run at Kansas City’s pro teams with a plan to help pay for new stadiums | Associated Press

The votes on the Kansas stadium-financing plan were 84-38 in the state House and 27-8 in the Senate. Lawmakers from across the state — even western Kansas, far from any new stadium — supported the measure.

It would allow state bonds to cover up to 70% of each new stadium, paying them off over 30 years with revenues from sports betting, state lottery ticket sales and new sales and alcohol taxes collected from shopping and entertainment districts around the new stadiums.

House Commerce Committee Chair Sean Tarwater, a Kansas City-area Republican, said the Chiefs still are likely to spend $500 million to $700 million in private funds on a new stadium.

“There are no blank checks,” Tarwater told GOP colleagues during a briefing.

Travis Kelce responds to typo on Chiefs’ $40,000 Super Bowl ring: ‘Who cares?’ | NBC Sports

Miami was actually the sixth seed. I guess that’s just the way the ring is … Are you gonna get it fixed?” Jason Kelce asked.

“I don’t give a s—. No, I like it that we didn’t give a f— about what seed Miami was,” Travis Kelce responded. “Who cares? They could have done no seeds on the side of them and I would’ve been fine.”

When asked to pick a favorite between his two rings, McDuffie chose a different option:

“Ring number 3. Always the next one,” he said. “But man, having them both on my hand, it doesn’t get better than this. It’s really a blessing.”

His visit brought a sparkle to the room – in more ways than one.

Rasheed Wallace weighs in on the Chiefs’ criticism of officials, predicts 2024 record | Chiefs Wire

“You always have to do that because you just have to call out what’s not right,” Wallace said. “If you see something that’s not right, then, hey, call it out. The league doesn’t like you to do that. But as players, we have to do that because we’re under such scrutiny from the media and fans.

“It’s like, look, all right, we all know we can see this, what’s happening and so forth. Why do we say the majority is mostly still on a player, because we go out there and execute things, right? It’s so much video out here now. Especially in football, it’s hard to do some real cheat stuff. Like in basketball, you can because there are so many possessions.”

Raiders-Chiefs Christmas Day Game Played a Factor in James Cregg Joining Coaching Staff | Raiders Today

“I was really excited [to take the new role],” Cregg said last week. “It was a funny story, I was obviously at San Francisco last year, we were playing in the Super Bowl here in Vegas. So I came to Vegas, I didn’t know I was going to be staying in Vegas. I had no idea, but watching the game, going over the game plan and going over it with Chris Foerster, the line coach and watching these guys. The Raider game against Kansas City — obviously we were preparing for Kansas — really stuck out to us. And I was watching those guys for two weeks just on tape, and I saw it. And then soon as I got a call from Luke Getsy to see if I’d be interested in taking this opportunity, I jumped at it because I watched what I saw on the tape.

“I saw Thayer Munford. I saw those kinds of guys like that. I saw Andre James. I saw all those guys. Kolton [Miller] was the missing piece in that game, but I know Kolton Miller, I’ve seen a ton of his film. And so I jumped at the chance to be here, and then back in a great organization, I didn’t think twice about it. It’s a great opportunity for me, and I’m excited as heck to work with these guys. It’s going to be cool, man. I can’t wait.”

Ranking eight NFL divisions by quarterback: AFC claims three of top four spots; NFC West at No. 2 | NFL.com

3. AFC WEST

In the end, the power of Mahomes and Herbert wins out, but the bottom half of the AFC West must exceed expectations, even slightly, in order for the division to rise. But even if the Broncos and Raiders don’t maximize their QB performances, it’s hard to put the AFC West QBs much lower because of the two stars.

Falcons to enshrine Arthur Blank, Matt Ryan in Ring of Honor | ESPN

On behalf of the Atlanta Falcons, it is a privilege to recognize two of our franchise icons as they enter our Ring of Honor,” Falcons president Greg Beadles said in a statement. “Since Arthur purchased the team in 2002, results on and off the field have elevated, and his unwavering dedication to the fans and city of Atlanta is worthy of this recognition and so much more.

“Matt’s character and talent on and off the field sets him apart as one of the greatest Falcons players ever, and we believe we’ll see his career recognized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the future.”

7 Chiefs make Pete Prisco’s ranking of the top 100 NFL players

After winning Super Bowl LVII, Prisco had five Kansas City players on his top 100. A year later — after winning Super Bowl LVIII — there are seven. Three players from the team’s Super Bowl LIV squad — wide receiver Tyreek Hill, cornerback Charvarius Ward and safety Tyrann Mathieu — watched the Chiefs win back-to-back championships while playing for other teams. All three — now joined by Sneed — are on Prisco’s top 100 for 2024.

POLL: Do you want to see David Bakhtiari join the Chiefs?

“I want to play with the next Super Bowl MVP, so whoever the hell that’s going to be, I better be with him,” smiled Bakhtiari. “[Everyone] says, ‘Oh, do you want to play with this player, or that team?’

“I’m like, ‘I just want to be with the next Super Bowl MVP. That’s it.”
