Chiefd News: Nikko Remigio is a player Chiefs fans should look out for

2024 NFL OTAs: Players who surprised us most at minicamp | ESPN
Remigio — in part because of Xavier Worthy’s injured hamstring — received a good run with the first unit during OTAs and minicamp, and he made the most of his opportunities. The challenge for him during training camp will be to make enough plays to crack a playing group that includes Worthy, Marquise Brown, Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney. One edge Remigio might have in making the roster is his ability as a kickoff returner. He joined the Chiefs last year as an undrafted rookie. — Adam Teicher
Every Team’s Most Important Contract Extension Ahead of 2024 NFL Season | Bleacher Report
Kansas City Chiefs: IOL Creed Humphrey
The Kansas City Chiefs have a long list of extension candidates. At the top of the list, however, should sit Creed Humphrey.
The anchor along one of the NFL’s top offensive lines, his impact since being drafted in 2021 has been twofold with the success of the Chiefs’ offensive ceiling.
Sure, having Patrick Mahomes as the leader of an offense helps, but the ability of Humphrey (a unique athlete as a left-handed center) to quickly evolve into one of the league’s elite has remained of the utmost importance for GM Brett Veach.
Orchestrating a deal north of $14 million a year over four seasons is likely the ballpark where Kansas City could land with Humphrey.
Why one NFL analyst doesn’t completely agree with Chiefs keeping Chris Jones | Arrowhead Addict
“The team recommitted to Jones with a new five-year, $158.75 million contract. Jones has certainly earned it — he finished first or second in pass rush win rate among defensive tackles in each of the past four seasons — but this was a huge contract for a player who turns 30 in July. While it starts with $60 million fully guaranteed, $35 million more is guaranteed for 2026 if he is on the roster in 2025, per ESPN Roster Management.”
Walder argues that Jones entering his age-30 season and getting this much money guaranteed is a risky move even for a player as talented as Jones. This was always the debate with Jones, as he’s definitely closer to the end of his career than the beginning of it but the Chiefs brass obviously felt that he was a key part of this team and the fans mostly agreed.

Jury to begin deliberations in NFL ‘Sunday Ticket’ trial | ESPN
U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez will have a conference with attorneys for both sides Tuesday morning to determine final jury instructions. Gutierrez could also hear a motion from the NFL on Tuesday afternoon to grant judgment as a matter of law to the league because the plaintiffs did not provide enough evidence.
Gutierrez will then give final instructions to the jury of five men and three women Wednesday morning before final arguments begin. Each side will get 1 hour, 10 minutes to make their statements with the plaintiffs getting an additional 20 minutes for rebuttal.
The NFL’s final witness was Stanford economics professor B. Douglas Bernheim, whose testimony began last Thursday and wrapped up Monday morning.
Bernheim reiterated the league’s position that selling out-of-market Sunday afternoon games on Fox and CBS to DirecTV from 1994 to 2022 and now Google YouTube TV benefits the fan and creates level competition on the playing field.
Mike McCarthy is getting ‘fed up’ with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, per report | CBSSports.com
“He’s doing it the best he can,” an ex-Cowboys personnel man recently said, per Tyler Dunne of Go Long. “Some of the people I’ve talked to have said that he’s getting fed up with it a little bit.”
McCarthy apparently isn’t the only one who is growing weary of Jones, who has owned and operated the franchise since purchasing it in 1989. According to the report, players are also concerned about Jones and his ability/willingness to undermine their coach.
Jones has long held the reputation for being a very hands-on owner. That was what largely contributed to the breakup between Jones and Jimmy Johnson following the Cowboys’ successful defense of their Super Bowl title at the end of the 1993 season. The Cowboys did win a third Super Bowl under Jones’ ownership two years later, but the franchise has never been the same since Johnson’s departure.
Ironically, Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells, who left New England following a Super Bowl appearance because of his inability to coexist with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, said that he had a positive experience working for Jones during his four-year stint in Dallas from 2003-06.
“I enjoyed working for Jerry,” Parcells said last fall. “I learned a lot about the business side of the game. I found him to be very supportive. He was a benevolent person who did a lot for a lot of people. His word was good. I really liked him.”
Panthers owner David Tepper, who is worth roughly $20 billion, will get $650 million in taxpayer money for renovations to the team’s 29-year-old stadium.
Via Bret McCormick of Sports Business Journal, Charlotte City Council voted 7-3 to approve the proposal on Monday night. Tepper will contribute $150 million. He also will be responsible for cost overruns.
The renovations will begin in 2025 and it will be completed by 2029.
“Today’s vote by the Charlotte City Council is the culmination of many thoughtful discussions with city officials, local leaders, and our fans to create a shared vision for Bank of America stadium,” Tepper said in a statement. “Nicole and I are grateful for the collaboration and support of the project, as well as our ongoing partnership between Tepper Sports & Entertainment and the city.”
Miami Dolphins · WR
Calvin Johnson has predicted that his single-season receiving record of 1,964 yards will eventually fall, and Hill was ahead of Johnson’s pace for most of 2023, until a late-season ankle injury limited him to 1,799 yards, which still led the league. For a wide receiver to win MVP — it’s never happened — will require a truly extraordinary season, but Hill is capable of it, thanks to his electrifying run-after-catch-ability and his chemistry with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Staying healthy through 17 games is the challenge for Hill, and it would help if the Dolphins’ offense — which finished first in offensive yardage last season — does not fade down the stretch as it did in 2023. Miami did not clear 20 points in either of the final two regular-season games, opening the door for the Bills to win the AFC East.
Terry McLaurin on Jayden Daniels: The kid loves ball and has a good feel for the game | NBC Sports
In a recent interview with Scott Van Pelt on ESPN’s SportsCenter, receiver Terry McLaurin said he was impressed with the poise Daniels displayed from the day he arrived on the scene.
“[I]t seemed like he knew the entire offense when he got there,” McLaurin said. “He’s in there calling the huddles during the walk-throughs. He’s in there calling the plays and he’s extremely confident. And it’s a testament to his preparation and the studying he did on his own. But also, I just think the kid loves ball and he has a good feel for the game. So, I think he really came in with the right mindset and energy and guys are already gravitating toward him.”

Chiefs News: Kansas City to release Isaiah Buggs
In a post to follow, Pelissero added, “Buggs’ bond was revoked after his most recent arrest, and he’s currently in jail as multiple legal cases play out.”
The 27-year-old was first accused of animal cruelty in late May, with his agent quickly responding with an accusation that the defensive tackle was a victim of police harassment. After attending the Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp, Buggs was then arrested on June 16 for a domestic violence-burglary charge.
Buggs found a job on the Chiefs’ practice squad during the 2023 postseason run, then signed a reserve/future contract in February to stay with the club for the offseason program.

Patrick Mahomes was already alone at the top of the quarterback hierarchy. Then he decided to become an unstoppable quick game passer for good measure.
For all the ups and downs the Chiefs offense had last year, Mahomes himself was almost perfect.https://t.co/4ZTupymc7x pic.twitter.com/zI3xUKK6W3
