What you will be looking for from your Phins Friday evening!
Last evening, I asked a question based on the fact that our Miami Dolphins will return to action this coming Friday evening in a pre-season game versus the Atlanta Falcons.
What will you personally be looking for in this week’s coming pre-season game? Is it a player? If so, who? Is it something about the team in general on offense or defense? Is it a unit that you need to see start to gel early on? It can be literally anything; just let us know what you want to see or will be on the lookout for.
Below are some of your answers and thoughts on the question of the day-
dedstrk316 wants to see some of the rookies flash against Atlanta’s backups.
Mo, Wright, and Chop. I want to see them get run. I’m not expecting anything other than flashes of brilliance against backups.
SlayerNation1 wants to see some rookies flash as well and to watch how the new kickoff rules work.
Unfortunately, we are forced to watch how the very bush-league kickoff is handled. That is a disservice to every NFL team to invest the time and effort into that gimmick which won’t last beyond this season.
2025 will return to the original kickoff model (not the previous). The epitome of “fixing something that really wasn’t in need of fixing”.
Other than that, let’s see some rookies flash. It is all artificial vanilla in flavor and quality, but they can still flash.
21Dave wants no injuries and for the team to be able to run and block against the Falcons’ spares.
Considering we will be playing mostly against the 2s &3s can we stop the run and run and pass block . If we can’t control the line with our guys against their guys with the 2s $ 3s our or theirs we will have problems. And I want to see injury free football.
phyrmun is also curious about how the new kickoff looks.
Interested to see what the new kick off rule looks like and who’s out there doing it.
Csonka knows that it all starts in the trenches and thus wants to see the OL and DL showing some level of continuity.
I would like to see both our lines come together as units. The OL has questions, mainly around injuries, the DL mainly around who will step into the starter roles. It would be good to see some cohesion over the next couple of games.
Yarganaught wants to see the secondaries’ depth step up.
We all know Ramsey and Fuller are the starters… who is next? Will Cam Smith figure it out and step up? Will Bonner stay hot? Will Campbell shine, or will Kohou cement his spot on the roster? Where is Needham in all this?
Call_for_the_Priest’77 is hoping to see the starters out there for a bit.
I am looking to see how much time the regs get? I’d like to see them out there for a solid first half or even three quarters. I already expect the regs to be ready to play hard in the PS. That is what they are paid to do. The coaches are likewise paid to encourage that they do. Who cares about the PS? People who want our regs to be ready for the real deal in week #1, instead of waiting a week, month or never this season.
The OL lineup should be interesting to watch. Wynn is probably out for now so it will be a new interior compared to last year for now. I’m assuming Brewer will be at center and will draw a huge watch. Can he handle pass protection and is he as good at the run as has been said of him? Who has got the RG spot? Will see Patrick Paul in with the regs? How have the depth guys progressed?
This is year three for McD and his third DC. But there will be no excuse for defensive failure like week #1 last year. If McD and Weaver can get the guys ready with minimal PS participation and wish to go this route I’ll be ok with that. But to me it seems that PS offers a good opportunity to get our guys ready for this new system, the third in a row for some of these guys. But if I don’t see them getting some serious time in the PS and then watch them fail in week #1 like last year, I won’t be pulling any punches with my keyboard hatchet!
finfanfromsiam wants to see how the defense looks under a new coordinator.
Hoping to get sense of the defense scheme and online knowing that we won’t be giving much away.
daytonadolfan hasn’t kept up with the goings on around camp and thus will be looking to see how the new kids look.
I’m lucky to have on local T.V. here , just going to be looking at the overall rookie class , as I haven’t been keeping up with Training camp. Hoping to see some stars rise up in pre-season.
TheRoo1 is interested in how the O-Line is working out and what the linebackers look like as a unit. Also, what about that Duck guy?
I wont see the game, I’ll be in the middle of nowhere but the immediate question is still the O line. Armstead wont play, but the others should all be out there. Are they so bad that an immediate band aid application is made with the savings from recent deals? Or does Grier try to ride it out until the last wave of cuts to the 53 to try and find a body?
Can Weaver piece together a LB corps from the pieces he has?
And the most important question of all,,,,,,,,,,,,
Does The Duck get his first pick six?
If there is a consensus it’s that everyone wants to see how the rookies look on an NFL field. A lot of other concerns that I share with you, like the O-Line. Thank you to everyone who took the time to join us, read our question of the day and give their thoughts.
