GM Brett Veach open to Chiefs appearing on āHard Knocksā | Kansas City Star
HBOās āHard Knocksā show continues to be a fan favorite and the number of teams featured has expanded in recent years.
Where āHard Knocksā once focused on just one team, this year fans saw the New York Giantsā offseason featured, and early next month the Chicago Bears will be shown at training camp. Once the season begins, the show will focus on all four AFC North teams.
The Chiefs havenāt been on āHard Knocksā since 2007 when Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle were quarterbacks and Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes were the running backs.
While on the GM Shuffle podcast, general manager Brett Veach was asked if he would be in favor of the Chiefs being on the HBO show.
While it would be great to see Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid or Chris Jones, the bigger story would be about … the old Tecmo Bowl video game.
āI do what they tell me,ā Veach said. āI mean, if they want to do that, I think it would be cool. We have some kick-ass Tecmo Bowl. Every year, I bring the old Nintendo and we fire up Tecmo Bowl. So once we get done with meetings, we play a few rounds of Tecmo Bowl every night, so Iām sure thatād be good footage to have.
Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds plan to attend Chiefs game in ā24 | Kansas City Star
The latter two are the stars of āDeadpool & Wolverine,ā which will be in theaters later this month. During an interview with People magazine on the red carpet, Reynolds and Jackman were asked if theyād attend a Chiefs game this fall.
āOh, I hope so,ā Jackman said.
Reynolds added, āYou donāt say no to that.ā
Jackman talked about how Swift and Lively, who is married to Reynolds, are the star attraction regardless of who attends a Chiefs game with them.
āIf you ever really want to kinda not feel great about your career,ā Jackman joked, āgo to a game with Taylor Swift and Blake Lively ā and then youāre Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and others at the game.ā
Reynolds chimed in: āYes! Weāre just and others.ā
Kansas City allowed Orlando Brown Jr. to depart in free agency prior to the 2023 season. The response was signing veterans Donovan Smith and Jawaan Taylor to lock down the edges. Smith was not retained and the franchise turned to last yearās third-round pick, Wanya Morris, before drafting Suamataia in the second round. As a fan of both during the pre-draft process, it would not be a surprise if either won the job but the Chiefs have to explore its options at the position.
1. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
Quarterback remains the single most important position in football, if not in all of team sports, and Mahomes is the best of the best.
Mahomes already topped 28,000 passing yards during the regular season, made six Pro Bowls, won three Super Bowls, reached six AFC title games, won two regular-season MVP awards and been named the Super Bowl MVP three times. Heāll only turn 29 in September.
Like many of the players on this list, Mahomes has benefited from a strong supporting castānot to mention a Hall of Fame coach in Andy Reid. However, heās been the catalyst behind Kansas Cityās dynasty and the biggest constant during its run.
If Mahomes continues on his current path, Bradyās record of seven Super Bowl winsāa seemingly unbreakable NFL mark if ever there was oneācould be in real jeopardy.

Steelersā Justin Fields gets QB1 reps with Russell Wilson held out | ESPN
The 35-year-old quarterback alerted the coaching staff to the issue, and coach Mike Tomlin made the call to hold Wilson out. āStarts arenāt always ideal, but thatās like life, man,ā Tomlin said after practice. āRuss woke up today, his calf was tight. It was my decision to sit him down today, create a little short-term discomfort for him, not allowing a small problem to become a bigger problem.ā
Tomlin characterized Wilson as āday-to-dayā and added that Wilson wanted to practice. āHe wanted to ā and he was probably capable ā but Iām getting to know him, and I just chose to create a little misery for him and the offensive unit,ā Tomlin said.
Cowboys Will Have to Make CeeDee Lamb the Highest-Paid Nonquarterback | SI
The reality is Dallas made this bed for itself. Thereās a reason why the Philadelphia Eagles (DeVonta Smith), Detroit Lions (Amon-Ra St. Brown), Miami Dolphins (Jaylen Waddle) and Houston Texans (Nico Collins) moved so aggressively to get their young receivers signed. They knew what was coming, and when the Justin Jefferson extension did come, the numbers shouldāve surprised exactly no one. He had a right to ask to be the highest-paid nonquarterback in the NFL, and he earned that distinction by getting $1 million more per year than Nick Bosa did last summer.
The key word there? Last. Summer. The Bosa contract was out there then, at $34 million per year. That Jefferson landed $35 million per year was, well, predictable. And while Lamb hasnāt accomplished what his draft classmate has in Minnesota, he did amass 135 catches, 1,749 yards and a dozen touchdowns last year, putting him well within his rights at 25 years old to ask for something closer to Jefferson than Smith, St. Brown, Waddle or Collins.

Chiefs Roster: Kansas Cityās 53-man roster projection 1.0 –
Donāt do it to me again, Deneric.Running backs (3): Isiah Pacheco, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Deneric Prince
Last year, I was bullish on the 2023 undrafted free agent during training camp. But in the final hour, LaāMical Perine pushed ahead of him in standing with the coaches. Ultimately, the Chiefs didnāt keep either player. Jerick McKinnon is no longer on the roster, opening up the door for a third running back ā a necessary measure considering the injury history of the top two players in the room. With much more caution than last year, Iāll go with Prince, who has seen opportunities with the first team early on in camp.
Obviously, I donāt have Rees-Zammit making the roster at this stage. Given that he has never played football, I still think he has a tall hill to climb. Weāll see if he makes an appearance in later projections.
