Miami Dolphins’ LT Terron Armstead speaks highly of QB Tua Tagovailoa
As fans anxiously wait for the next domino to fall in the Tua Tagovailoa contract saga, one of QB1’s most prominent supporters had nothing but great things to say about Miami’s starting quarterback on a recent episode of the Ross Tucker Podcast.
Dolphins starting left tackle Terron Armstead was on a recent episode of Tucker’s podcast, where he talked all things football. However, one clip has been making waves on social media early this morning — and if you’re a fan of the Dolphins, you may be ready to run through a wall after hearing what Armstead had to say about Tua.
“That’s my little brother,” Armstead said in a recent episode with Tucker. “I’m somebody that he respects, from my play, my opinion, the way I’ve trained myself. So yeah, he’s opened up and reached out, and we’ve talked through numerous situations.”
Armstead didn’t mince words when he said he believed Tua Tagovailoa should get paid — making him one of the highest-paid ever at the position.
“(We’ve talked about) the contract specifically, for sure. He’s going to be one of the highest-paid ever. Whenever that comes across ESPN and Sportscenter, he will be. He’s an elite quarterback. One of the top quarterbacks in the league. He’s able to do things very few on earth can.
Heading into his 12th NFL season, Armstead has plenty of experience at the negotiating table. During his interview with Tucker, Armstead shed some light on what it’s like being on the other side of negotiations and how, at times, things can feel a bit personal.
“You kinda hear this when you’ve been in the league, as you know, Ross, the human nature of taking the negotiations personal or making things personal… it’s tough not to. Because when you get into negotiations, they’re bringing up injuries, this game, that game, you know what I mean?! Like, damn, you know. But it’s important; the art of negotiation is leverage… I think his patience has been great, man. He’s been handling everything and especially still leading our team.”
“He will be one of the highest-paid ever.”
Armstead may be playing his last season in 2024, but for Tagovailoa, the plan is to play for many years. And after leading the league in passing yards a year ago — and all the turmoil he went through during the first few seasons of his career — you can’t blame Miami’s starting quarterback for wanting to get paid — every bit as much — as a Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, etc…
That said, I don’t envy the Miami Dolphins because there is no question the quarterback market has started to get out of hand. And with Tua’s injury history, you can understand why both sides are trying to protect themselves. But as a wise man once said, “The Market is the Market,” and with every passing day, the market continues to rise.
What are your thoughts on Terron Armstead’s comments? Do you believe Tua Tagovailoa is an #Elite quarterback? Will he be among the league’s highest-paid quarterbacks with his inevitable contract extension? Let us know in the comments section below!
