The last time the Chiefs and Ravens met on a football field, Kansas City went into Baltimore and won the AFC Championship Game by a score of 17-10 en route to a second consecutive Super Bowl championship. These two teams will meet again in Week 1 of the 2024-25 regular season, and one Ravens player had a message to the Chiefs.

Appearing on the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams, Ravens TE Isaiah Likely declared the Ravens would be ready and insinuated they’re not scared of Kansas City.

Considering the Chiefs are 5-1 in the last six matchups between these squads, perhaps they should be.

Ravens TE Isaiah Likely Sends Message to Chiefs

When asked by Adams about the possibility of a Week 1 matchup last week, Likely said, “We’re going to be there. Ten toes…every guy there, ready for everything that happens.”

Likely then referenced the last time the Ravens were underdogs, a Week 16 game against the 49ers that Baltimore won 33-19. That’s all fine and dandy of course, but the Chiefs beat that same 49ers squad as well. Most importantly, Kansas City beat Baltimore as road underdogs in the AFC title game!

I know that Likely can’t just throw his hands up, though I wonder how confident the Ravens can legitimately be given how thoroughly the Chiefs’ defense shut them down last year. Baltimore was held to three points after the first quarter and now two-time MVP Lamar Jackson was completely out of sync all game.

Until proven otherwise, it’s the Chiefs. If Kansas City pummels Baltimore in celebration of the Super Bowl win, it’ll only become that much more obvious to the rest of the NFL.

Likely had 411 receiving yards last season which is fine, but he managed just two catches for 16 yards in the loss to the Chiefs. Perhaps he should worry more about his production before he looks ahead to Kansas City.
