Ravens safety Eddie Jackson’s one-year contract details revealed
The details of new Baltimore Ravens safety Eddie Jackson’s contract have been released. According to overthecap.com, Jackson signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with $1 million guaranteed.
This is quite the signing for the Ravens as they net a high-upside safety who meshes with their mentality, roster and system. With Jackson, they added a good player to a prototypical prove-it deal, something that’s benefitted both the Ravens and those signed over the past season-plus, as numerous one-year Ravens in 2023 saw paydays this offseason.
The benefit for Jackson is being paid a solid $1 million up front and the opportunity to reestablish himself as one of the NFL’s best ballhawks.
The No. 3 safety role in Baltimore—while not paramount to the teams’ success—allows greater variety and flexibility. Jackson’s proven himself as a player the Ravens can count on, what with his seven seasons with the Chicago Bears and nabbing an interception only two days into training camp.
Jackson, like Geno Stone in 2023, could be the beneficiary of a few gift-wrapped, unwise, under-duress throws from quarterbacks underestimating the third safety on the field. If that’s the case, Jackson will have a great impact for the Ravens in 2024 while carrying a stat-stuffed resume to 2025 free agency.
