The three-time Super Bowl champion also praised the creator and his fellow castmembers: “Everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.”
Travis Kelce is feeling very grateful for his role in Ryan Murphyâs FX horror series Grotesquerie.
While Kelce knows his way around a football field, a filming set is a new territory. But he opened up in a recent episode of his New Heights podcast about his experience on set so far, starring opposite Niecy Nash-Betts.
âItâs been so much fun,â the three-time Super Bowl champion said. âRyan Murphy is [an] unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. Heâs just â thereâs nothing he canât do and everybodyâs just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.â
He continued, âEven on top of that, just giving me kinda the direction I need and the coaching I need to portray this part that Iâm in.â
Although most details surrounding the series have been kept under wraps, Nash-Betts confirmed Kelceâs involvement earlier this month in an Instagram video. Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville are also in the cast.
Kelce later admitted that his lack of acting experience has made him feel like a âjabroniâ amongst professionally working actors.
âI feel like an amateur. And, uh, I havenât gotten fired yet so weâre doing good,â he said. âThey havenât told me to fucking kick rocks after the first week, so itâs been awesome.â
When his brother Jason Kelce attempted to get the Kansas City Chiefs star to spill some details surrounding the show, he said he didnât âwant to give too much awayâ but that âthe name itself can tell you itâs quite a mystery and every scene has just been so much fun to be in.â
With just a few days into filming and still trying to get comfortable in the new environment, Travis added heâs âjust taking it scene by scene and trying to make sure that I remember my lines. Iâm very amateur at this.â
âI was kinda blown away and kinda, like, shocked that he [Murphy] was willing to give me a role like this, because it is a big role on the show,â the NFL player concluded. âHe seemed very confident that Iâd be able to do this and he kinda injected that in me the first conversation that we had. So hopefully I donât bomb this for him.â
